A Case for AI
But not the AI you might think
According to AI (Artificial Intelligence), Artificial intelligence can harm students by weakening critical thinking skills, encouraging academic dishonesty, and reducing meaningful human engagement with teachers and peers.

As our kids start heading back to school (my grandkids started on Monday—in 110 degree Phoenix heat!), the battle with AI will heat up once again.
Is it okay for our kids to use it?
Are there downsides to AI?
How do we help them navigate their way through the pitfalls and possible benefits of AI?
More importantly, once again we want to ask the question: How do we inspire curiosity, wonder, and a hunger to learn in our kids?
One of the greatest gifts we can give to our kids is critical thinking… especially now in a world where so much thinking is done for them (algorithms).
How do we help our kids discern what is good, noble, helpful, beautiful, worthy of consideration, in a world filled with anger, grievance, and soundbytes?
We all understand that our teachers and schools are under pressure to ensure that our students graduate with the knowledge required by the state or district. Our educators are some of the most important people in the lives of our kids! They do outstanding work.
As parents and grandparents, however, we also have the privilege of inspiring our kids with not just knowledge, but the ability to think, to learn, to assimilate what is important in life.
Animated Inquisitiveness is a gift that will serve our kids well for the rest of their lives.
Animated Inquisitiveness is the enthusiasm for learning; the joy of curiosity.
