A Bumpy Book Launch
But it's still a launch!
Book writing is extremely personal. You put your heart and soul into a book. You nurture it to completion. You put a cover on it and a marketing plan around it and then anxiously await the launch, hoping that people will like it.
And so far—the early editorial reviews are in—and they are better than hoped. Check out the full reviews from Kirkus: Serious, jolly, and instructive—an entertaining Christmas adventure in the best spirit of the season.
The Prairies Book Review: A fun, imaginative, and vibrant story full of high action and wordplay… A must-read middle grade fantasy.
and readingwithyourkids: RiverHome for the Holidays delivers a captivating blend of humor, danger, and inspiration. For lovers of fantasy with mythical creatures, this book is a must-read, promising a thrilling and heartwarming adventure.
I’m happy to say that The Adventures of Toby Baxter—Book 2: RiverHome for the Holidays is now live—sort of!
These days, the primary way to sell a book is through Amazon. They have everything in place to at least give authors a platform to sell their books.
Unfortunately, somehow Amazon “lost” the ebook! It’s out in the ether somewhere but not on their website. The paperback version is live, but who knows when the ebook will show up.
Thankfully Barnes and Noble have the ebook up and available. They will also have the paperback soon. (Right now it says paperback is free. It’s not. :)) And an audio book is about a month out.
So while it’s not been the easiest of launches, the book is out there. And I’m hoping you agree with Kirkus, The Prairies Book Reviews, readingwithyourkids, and others that RiverHome for the Holidays was worth the wait. It would bring me great joy to know that Toby’s second adventure brings some joy to you and your kids/grandkids this holiday season—or whenever you read the book. (And I’m not too proud to encourage a pity buy, if that motivates you!)
Next time I’ll dig a bit deeper into the background of book 2.
